It's in good shape. Plays ok. Flippers need a bit of work. But overall it's pretty fun.

They just were not going to get the attention that they needed.
So now the garage has more room. I have my bike lift in there and am fixing the front brake master cylinder on my Yamaha. I also have the XS650 here as a project.

I'm looking at the Factory Five Shelby Cobra as a fun project. We will see what the future brings.

WOW!

It was built in Jan 1993 and the lady said they had it in the house since 1997. It's a touch beat up but nothing too serious. I swapped out the old balls and gave the playfield a good cleaning. I will give it more love and attention in the future.

For now I'm playing it and loving it. R2D2's head spins and he moves up and down. The death star rotates as it should. Fun.
It was the bike that dominated the WSB championships and forced Honda to develop the RC51.

It was one of the best looking bikes ever made in my opinion. Very sleek and elegant. It was replaced by the more powerful 996 in 1999. The bike was visually identical but with a slightly bigger bump in displacement.

Here is my 1999 Ducati 996, bought in Syracuse NY.

It has been fitted with the 5 spoke Marchesini wheels introduced in 2000. It is going to get a new speedometer to change from miles to kilometers. And I need to switch the shifter back to the original because it's set up in racing mode.

It came with the original 3 spoke "boat anchor" wheels. And the passenger pegs, the passenger tail, the original footpegs, and some books.
Bought in Markham Ontario.
Liked the game so after emailing back and forth decided to pick it up. It was in OK shape. I may put some work into it but as of right now it plays ok. Maybe over the winter I will repair the cabinet.

I have always been interested in Scouts and so I drove down to pick it up. It supposedly runs, has no brakes, and the body is rough. But it's a good project. And it looks sweet.

I'm on the hunt for parts to repair it.
Ducati's V-Twin was pretty much unbeatable as it had a nice broad power delivery band which made it smoother to ride. Plus twins were allowed to be up to 1000cc displacement while inline fours were allowed up to 750cc.

So what did Honda Racing do?

Honda introduced its own V-Twin powered motorcycle the VTR1000 SPW in 2000. The result was clear right away as Colin Edwards won the championship in the bike's first year of competition.

The street version of the bike for sale to the public was the RC51.

I found one for sale in North Toronto and bought it. It has quite a few Km's on it but was fairly clean. I will maybe do some work on it next spring but for right now it's ok.

It's a 2003 Honda RC51 SP2.

It has side mounted radiators which is pretty unique. The SP2 model also has a better rear swingarm than the SP1.

I think it would be cool to get it to look like Colin Edward's ride from Laguna Seca below:

It was so good that the remade the game in 2015 and have started reselling it. But the older originals are still worth more money.

I found this one in a basement in Ohio waiting to be restored. Picked it up for half of what it is worth plus a playfield and ramps. A pretty sweet deal. It needs some work but will be a great addition to the pinball room.
The east coast is fun because there are lots of different towns and places to see.
I finally got my truck here and this weekend decided to drive to Ohio to buy a pinball machine.

A great guy named Erik H. was selling an ACDC Luci.

So we loaded it in the truck and talked pinball for a minute. Then I drove back to Toronto. It was a 14 hour round trip. The drive is a bit boring but I was excited to get the game.

A great addition.
I was supposed to fly back to Edmonton in May but the company needed me to stay. So I ended up going back in June.
I had to move the rust bomb to my parents farm. That and some of my motorcycle projects. My old coke machine.
So now they are all tucked away.

Then I loaded the truck and trailer to the max and headed to Toronto. The trip took 3-15 hour days. Lots of rain. And the natives had blocked the road into Ontario so there was a bit of a delay.
But overall a painless trip.
So my contract in Vancouver ended. I knew it was coming.
I transported all of my pinball machines and motorcycles back to Edmonton.

The next contract was going to be in Toronto so I rented a house in Mississauga ON and began prepping for the move. I flew up in April and bought a bed, a couch, and a TV. Then started work using a rental car. The plan was to fly back to Edmonton in May and take 3 weeks to move.

I rented a van and drove to Quebec to pick up a Simpsons Party Pinball. That was a great adventure. A windowless white panel van with no cruise control and no a/c. The people in Quebec were great but they couldn't believe I was going to day trip it. Lol.

I don't come across these very often but have played it and enjoy the gameplay. I like the Data East games - similar to the Playboy I have and the Secret Service I had.

I found one just outside of Edmonton so bought it an brought it home.

I think I overpaid by a couple of hundred as it needs work. And the backglass is OK but not 100%.

Still we will fix it up and play it. No worries. The backglass is super cool because it lights up and you can see the Phantom's grisly face underneath the mask. Plus the music is very heavy and gothic.

I found a pinball machine on that theme and played it a bit. It was pretty cool.

I vowed if I ever found one for cheaper I would buy it.

And today I found one and added it to the collection. It's made by Gottlieb in 1994. There are a few issues - the DMD has 2 dead lines right in the middle and the spaceship doesn't come out of the pyramid. I haven't played it very much. It's in the garage warming up.

But I think I can fix it and get it back to 100%..... Stay tuned! Lol.
It was never going to get all of the work done to it while it was here.

Bummer. But the garage is a bit less full.

I can't wait for the mods for Creature to get here - I will clean it at the same time I install the LCD in place of the 3D creature. Should be cool.

More info to follow.
I removed the ramps to do it. It probably took me 3 hours.

It plays excellent now - very fast and fun.

I also bought the Creature mod from PinballMikeD. It uses an LCD screen in place of the hologram. I have the tv - just waiting for the mod to come in the mail. I will update when I get it installed. I will probably clean the machine at the same time as it is grimy.
I got it for a good price. I really liked playing the game at the Northwest arcade and pinball show - never thought I would own one.

It is in pretty good shape. Just needs some love and a good cleaning. No keys so I have to replace the locks...
Wasn't getting played all that much - kind of a repetitive game.

So BuhByeslikboyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05180696117713397399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819107009138117603.post-53228677605798558972014-08-15T21:53:00.000-07:002014-09-19T21:46:39.906-07:00Of all the bands in the world, This is definitely one of them!"Went on a shopping spree and picked up a Guns and Roses pinball made in 1998 by Data East. There were only 3000 made so they are a bit hard to find. This one is in OK shape and plays fine with only a few slight issues - light playfield wear and a goofy kicker solenoid I need to fix.

It's fantastic. Plays a fair number of their songs. Lots of fun.

So far it's in the garage (which is getting full again - lol)

I also have a lead on a Monster Bash - which is kind of a grail pin for me. We will see where that leads in the future but right now having fun playing GnR.slikboyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05180696117713397399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8819107009138117603.post-81736015145309673812014-08-15T21:47:00.000-07:002014-09-19T21:57:53.141-07:00Enfield Continental GT: or The Garage Continues to FillI had heard the news about Enfield releasing a new model called the Continental GT.

It looked super cool in the pictures.

Reviews called it a bit underpowered but said it sounded great and had lots of soul.

I don't really need to go a hundred miles an hour any more. And I can do that on my R1. So the GT seemed to be an interesting bike for me.

It took them a while to come to Canada but I went and looked at one in a shop here in BC.

I bought one - new with only 6km on it. It's the first vehicle I have ever bought new. So far I have only put 50km on it for break in.

I'm going to get some bar end mirrors to replace the ugly old mirrors that are on it. And the muffler is a bit fat and non-retro - kind of looks out of place on it - so that needs to get binned. They also make red fenders for it - which again look very chic.

Overall it's a very cool bike and I am quite pleased with it. Kick and electric start. Disc brakes. And new. Nice to have the funds.

It's in the garage to get fixed. So far it lights up but doesn't boot up. I sprayed the back glass with Krylon Triple Thick to get it to stop flaking. It looks ok. There is still a lot of work to do on it.
Pretty good lineup.
It was not mint but in players shape. It has always been one of those pinballs that I liked to play and I have always loved the movie franchise.

One of the call outs if you tilt the table is Short Round who cries out "You Cheat Doctor Jones!". The rest of the game is awesome fun with good voices and lots of challenges to complete.

So I struck a deal, packed it up, and brought it home.

It is heavy - the heaviest pinball I own. Right now it is in the garage but we will bring it upstairs and add it to the lineup. I will post pictures of the playroom later.slikboyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05180696117713397399noreply@blogger.com0
